Juicy Top 10 Movies we are anticipating in 2016!

And so a new year has already begun! Yes, we are reeling from the phenomenon of december known as StarWars:The Force Awakens! We have awoken, and asmuch as we love StarWars, we can't wait for feb 2016 to come around fast so that we can get our next dose of our favorite icons!

So...Here's the list

01. Deadpool(Feb 2nd 2016)

This movie is slated to break StarWars' grip on the box office this upcoming february, and with the hype surrounding the movie, it is no wonder people are claiming that. This "Merc with a mouth" needs no introduction to superhero fans, especially Marvel's. We shall not get into the details of this hero's history though, but we'll tell you his superpower though. Deadpool...just...can't...die. If that's not enough of a factor for you to catch this movie, well, you have another thing coming. He's not called "The merc with a mouth" for nothing. Expect explosions, actions and lots of witty, humorous dialogue.

02. Allegiant(March 18th 2016)

For guys, it's Shailene Woodley!(OMG), For ladies, it's Theo James. This is the third instalment of this hugely popular movie franchise inspired by the books(Divergent series). In a post-apocalyptic world where humans are segregated according to their classes, this series chronicles the lives of our favorite divergent heroes. Divergents are humans with the abilities to transcend all classes and are seen as threats to the established order of the world. Expect action, lots of it...and off course, Shailene Woodley(if that's not enough for most of you).

03. Batman Vs Superman(March 25th 2016)

Holy Cow! Us being huge DC fans, this movie is the most aniticipated of the year! Marvel fans have already had their "Avengers", this movie is our equivalent(if not better..hehe). There are a few battles in the DC universe(comics) that has already had a profound effect on our childhood, FlashvSuperman, AquamanvWonderwoman, BatmanvSuperman just to name a few. Thank goodness,they've decided to do this. And the fans cant wait. We've even written a few articles on this movie(do check it out)! These two heroes need no introduction and we can't wait for what's gonna happen. The dark knight versus The man of steel. Who's going to win? And will we see the dawn of the justice league? Only time will tell...

04. Captain America:Civil War(May 6th 2016)

This has got to be the second most anticipated of the year!(after batmanvsuperman). If you read the comics, which we're sure Marvel fans have, then it's pretty much the same how the story is going to flow. But, our imagination from reading the comics can only bring us so far(right?). We like both characters, so it's interesting how the antagonists(ehem..you should know who) evolve in this story. More than that, we just like to see superhero clashes...oh, and don't forget...The Black Panther!

05. X-men Apocalypse(May 27th 2016)

 

Introducing the first ever mutant born on earth(not to mention the most powerful) as the antagonist of the X-men and humankind in this movie. Does that send chills down your spine? This is one of the most feared villains in the comic world, and as such, this movie is a must watch for anyone,not to mention X-men fans.

06. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows(June 3rd 2016)

People might give us stick for this movie, but just look at the trailer! The highlight is that we will get to see Bebop and Rocksteady! Yes, yes, we know...it's a michael Bay movie, but still...If it's any consolation, Megan Fox is still hot as ever.

07. Warcraft(June 10th 2016)

Finally! Words cannot express how long we have been waiting for Blizzard's hugely successful video game to be turned into a movie. Remember the nights we spent on windows DOS, just to build enough army to clear a stage? Remember those days when we would go to work sleepy from all the raids we did the night before? This is a long time coming, and it's soon going to be here. We heard that it's going to be a trilogy, so this movie chronicles the opening of the dark portal onto which, orcs first discovered Azeroth. All the characters we know and love will be in this movie like Lothar, Durotan, Orgrim Doomhammer, Thrall, Gul'dan, Medivh...the question is...will you be there?

08. Suicide Squad(August 5th 2016)

By August this year, we would have been handful of "Anti-Superhero movies" like Deadpool and to a certain extent BVS & Captain America: Civil War. Here's the latest one to hit our screens, if you're reading this in august! Suicide Squad. You will see the likes of Joker, Harley Quinn, Enchantress and deadshot in a different light than what we're used to. It turns out DCU's underbelly has scums that are so bad, they can redeem themselves. With this, DC is finally signalling to world their arrival, after Marvel's domination for the past few years.

09. Doctor Strange (Nov 4th 2016)

Not much is known about Dr strange at the moment, but what we do know, is enough to blow us out of the water. Benedict Cumberbatch is the actor behind the surgeon we all know and love. And, get this, the person acting opposite him is Mads Mikkelsen(known for his work on Hannibal)! It seems the Marvel executives are moving alot of heroes along this year eh? Expect a busy end of the year!

10. Assassin's Creed(Dec 21st 2016)

The trailer is not out yet, but we do see images of the setprops and promo picture etc. Well 20th century Fox is surely taking their time on this. We can't wait for it. We think the movie introduces a new character and that's a good move! And you can't fault Michael Fassbender who is a great actor. 2015 and 2016 is surely a busy year for him as he stars in this movie, along with X-men Apocalypse and the upcoming Steve Jobs Biopic. Can't wait...

In conclusion...

It's been a great 2015, but here's to plenty more in 2016! Can't wait for it. Oh and also, some of you might want to add a few movies not in this list. We had a hard time to pick the movies, trust us. We've left out "Rogue One: A StarWars Story", "Ghostbusters 3", "Gambit", "Independence Day:Resurgence", "Angry Birds" and a few others that didn't quite make as much buzz as these movies listed. It was on a cold night on 30th Nov 2015, a colleague and I from 'The Daily Planet' arrived on the Gala of  LexCorps' unveiling of their new product. We arrived on the scene early, as how journalists and reporters always are. As we gathered in front of the building hall to stop any potential prey for our latest article entries, a car stopped by. A black sedan pulled up, perhaps of a British make, very elegant yet simple.

"Who's that?", I asked. "You must be new, That is Bruce Wayne" replied my colleague, the non-chalant photographer. I've always wondered how my colleague knows all the rich playboys of the world, like when that time he introduced me to a certain 'Oliver Queen'. I digress for a moment before I snap out of it. Maybe tonight, Bruce Wayne shall be my target. Maybe tonight Mr Wayne shall be my headline for the editorial team tomorrow.

So I approach, the Gotham billionaire like an eagle swooping in on his prey.

"Mr Wayne", I called out. I introduced myself, the unassuming journalist from our own "The Daily Planet". "What's your position on the bat vigilante in Gotham?", I asked. To which, I was greeted with a smirk from the billionaire.

"Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city. People living in fear. He thinks he's above the law.", I reiterated just in case, to steer the billionaire into the right direction.

His comments didn't waste time to floor me, as he takes a swipe at 'The Daily Planet' and our local superhero; Superman, whom have gained Metropolis' trust and admiration from his years of keeping the city safe. Who is this guy? I ask myself, twice for the night.

"I think they're(The Daily Planet) a hypocrite. Would you say?" Mr Wayne asks me.

"Considering every time your hero saves a cat out of the tree, you write a half piece editorial...About an alien, who can burn the place down" The billionaire has struck the blow to the hearts of most people in Metropolis. I admit, I felt it myself.

I try to match his brave statement with a rather calm demeanor. "The rest of the world doesn't share your opinion, Mr Wayne". And then I waited as the air grew still between us. The intensity fizzled out as soon as the young founder of LexCorp, Lex Luthor found both of us and re-introduced us in his own way.

Perhaps If Mr Wayne feels Metropolis has issues with the way our hero deals with things, He can always talk to Superman about it. Or better yet, perhaps, he can facilitate a meeting between Superman and Batman so as to teach Batman on how to become a hero, not a 'wannabe' in street lingo.

Batman Vs Superman: A new era

A little over two weeks ago, Clark Kent, a colleague of mine, and a journalist of TDP posted an editorial on Gotham billionaire, Bruce Wayne and his stand on "The Batman". It hasn't taken long for the bat vigilante to appear on our city. That article on Superman "teaching" The Batman must have got to the vigilante.

 

Recent events surrounding the court order for Superman's arrest has turn Superman into a fugitive. Now, he seeks refuge...somewhere. The Batman has come out of hiding to bring Superman to justice. Bruce Wayne echoes that sentiment by citing that "He has the power to wipe out the entire human race".

 

The Day when our city sky rained terror because Batman met Superman

 

 

The new order to arrest Superman comes from Senator Finch's new directive. In the court hearing, which Superman attended, The Senator has called out that Superman's powers are "abusive" and "nuclear". Among other things, Senator Finch is adamant that in order for Superman to save Metropolis, he needs to reside "under our watchful eyes, in a place where he is restraint".

 

Yesterday, we saw a glimpse of our hero returning to Metropolis after his short exile, only to be greeted by The Batman. Much of the city has evacuated, as Metropolis quickly turned into a battleground between these two. The bat vigilante took advantage of the situation by fighting at night, where the earth's sun doesn't help Superman.

 

Mysteriously, both of them disappeared after the dust has settled and millions of homes were destroyed. Is this what we want Metropolis? to push our hero, the one who has saved us countless times. Do we want to push him past his breaking point, until he turns rogue?

Conclusion

 

So there you have these two articles explaining the events based on the trailer. Here's what we can learn from the latest trailer and the articles.

 

1. Bruce Wayne is very resentful of Superman after the last event whereby General Zod tried to invade the world
2. Superman is being arrested for being too powerful. He is viewed as an alien that needs to be stopped
3. Lex Luthor facilitates the meeting between the two heroes and manipulates them against each other
4. We see Doomsday in the trailer, to which, Wonderwoman comes to the rescue..but why is she in this fight? to save the world?
5. Batman and Superman have no idea who Wonderwoman is? could this be the start to the Justice League? Except this time, it isn't Darkseid who is the catalyst
6. Doomsday is implied to be born out of Lex Luthor's ability to resurrect him from the dead body of General Zod, which totally changes the origins of Doomsday
7. In the first comic-con trailer, Alfred tells Bruce Wayne that Superman is not the enemy, which shows that Superman is not completely evil. Why would they fight then?

006. People you didn't (but most probably do) know were involved with Batman!

#BatmanDay is upon us.

Tell me, do you read?

This is the time of the year where fans across the world will pay tribute to the dark knight, and his villains. You will see fans litter conventions with costumes of the caped crusader. His cowl, his utility belt, his mask, everything. In relation to this wonderful upcoming event, let's recap back the people involved with our childhood hero!

1. One of the inspirations for Batman was Zorro

Ben Affleck In the 1940s, DC's success with Superman prompted them to scramble to create more heroes. That was the time when Bob Kane first created a hero called "The Batman", with inspirations coming from Zorro. Bill Finger got on the project later on as a writer and the rest is as they say 'history'.


2. Did you know that among the names who've stand in for batman include, Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, Jean Paul Valley, Terry McGinnis?

Yes, among the few were his son and the original robin to act as a stand-in when the caped crusader was out injured or had some other errands to attend to.

 

 

 

Oh, and did we mentioned, a few other common people had their attempts to dress up as him?

 

 

3. Speaking of which, Bill Murray was once picked to be casted as Batman?

Thank God it didn't work out. Can you imagine?

Ghostbuster, not so much a crimebuster...Thank you very much!


4. This wasn't the first time Christian Bale "participated" in a batman movie.

Mr Bale once auditioned for the role of Robin in 'Batman Forever' starring Val Kilmer. In the end, the choice of Robin went to Chris O Donnell. Looking at how Bale conducts his acting, we think, the direction of batman forever wouldn't have suited him. And, thank heavens he didn't take any part in Batman & Robin!(right?no?).

Batman-ception! If Bale got the role as robin in Batman Forever, and he plays The Dark Knight in Nolan's Trilogy, it'd be like point #1, Dick Grayson being Batman!!


5. Christian Bale(again) advises Ben Affleck on the role of Batman

Ben Affleck apparently revealed that he was given an important piece of advice by Bale, when he was doing promotion at this years' Comic Con in San Diego. Affleck told fans how they both bumped into each other in a Los Angeles costume shop to buy batman costumes for their kids when Affleck was greeted by Bale.

An awestruck Affleck asked;"Do you have any tips?"(on playing batman). And Bale' reply was; "Make sure you can piss in that suit.".
